iLHP Welcomes Nature Photographer Nicolas Orillard To The Team

iLHP is always trying to bring you new content. We’ve decided to welcome to the team a fantastic pro landscape/wildlife photographer who travels around the world. Nicolas Orillard is a very successful pro-photographer who will share his experience as a pro-photographer and talk about his fantastic travels around the world.

“Photography is for me the possibility to switch off the rest of the world, to come to peace. The time spend hiking, waiting for the light to come, watching the nature around me is my opportunity to get better. It is somehow a therapy.”

Savannah, Georgia On My Mind

Savannah, Georgia has been on my “must see” list of places to visit in the US for many years now. I have driven the lengthy 24 hours from Toronto to Miami countless times. However, throughout the years I have never driven through the more picturesque eastern side of Georgia, I have always gone through Atlanta because its been said it’s safer when the weather conditions are unpredictable during the winter months. This time, I made sure to stop in Savannah on the drive back from Tampa, Florida.

The majority of my time away, this trip, I chose to use my Sony A7 for several reasons. I adore the quality and sharpness of the images. Especially when the shooting conditions are ideal as far as lighting and there is no moisture in the air. The light weightiness of the camera makes it quite painless to lug around than a DSLR and not break my back. And lastly I really want to get familiar with my Sony like I am with the Canon 70D in different scenarios.

Macro Photographer: Nicolas Frin “The Fairy Maker”

“Fairytales,” that’s what this French photographer inspires me. We’ve interviewed a lot of macro/wildlife photographers lately, even Michel D’Outltremont who’s a freshly BBC award winning talent, but Nicolas Frin has his own vision of macro. His style is very light, very pure, and he masters bokeh like no one else does. I am very excited about introducing Nicolas and know more about him and his art!

Take a Photo Journey Through Beautiful Canada

It is no secret that I am not very fond of the cold Canadian winters. I actually detested being in Toronto so much that I decided to escape The Great White North and seek warmer climes. Being back in Toronto for just my second winter now after 12 years away, I am finally appreciating the four seasons we Canucks experience living here. If it had not been for my photographic passion, it is highly likely I would have managed to find a way to flee south once again.

For those of our readers who have never visited my home and native land, I am proud to share with you some images from each of our provinces and territories.

Canada is composed of ten provinces and three territories:  Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario (my home), Prince Edward Island aka. PEI, Quebec and Saskatchewan.  The three territories are the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon.

Q&A with Photographer Cyril Verron “The Magician”

Cyril Verron is one of those photographers who create magic out of their cameras sensors. His ability to make masterwork is amazing. He is a full-time pro with great projects to come for nature lovers. I had the chance to meet him and had to share this with you all. The rest is here for you to read. Enjoy!

iLHP: Hi Cyril, I’m very pleased and honored to meet you in person to ask you a few questions. As a full time professional photographer, can you tell us a bit more about yourself like when and why did you start photography (and your specialty)?

Cyril: Hi Christian, it’s a pleasure for me too to answer your questions. I’m a French Photographer born in 1981 in Brittany (France) and now live in Dordogne (France) which is a beautiful region for nature lovers and photographers. I started photography in 2010 doing mostly portraits and landscapes with my first DSLR Canon 5D MarkII. This became a passion in my everyday life and later some friends of mine advised me to turn professional because my shots seemed interesting and maybe salable. So I told myself “why not give it a try?”. I wanted to start this activity with a freelance status and then I turned full time pro in 2012.

iLHP: Oh I see, did you learn by yourself or through photography schools?

Cyril: I learnt photography myself and with the help of forums and friends who are also photographers. I never attended photography schools. But you know, when you have a strong passion you can learn and accomplish great things. Now it’s funny because teaching photography is part of my job! (laughs)

iLHP: I love asking this question to the photographers I meet because I always get very different answers, so what does photography mean to you?

Cyril: That’s an excellent question. Photography, is for me one of the best ways to catch and transcript an emotion through my eyes and it is also a fabulous way of testifying a moment, a place, a scene, a look, an expression or a state of mind. Through a picture, I think we can learn a lot about the subject and the photographer. It’s a true mean of expression. Continue reading Q&A with Photographer Cyril Verron “The Magician”
