Architectural Photography with Andreas Bildgestalter

Andreas Bildgestalter is one of those amateur photographers whose talent is outstanding and should be showcased widely in the photography world. iLHP is constantly on the lookout to find new talents and showcase professionals as well as amateurs who produce constantly breathtaking pictures. Andreas is one of them in his field: Architecture. His world is made of straight lines, tight curves and with a lot of purity. Let’s discover together his philosophy. Don’t miss out the link below to the “making of” of his most rewarded photograph!

iLHP: First of all, thank you very much Andreas for taking the time to answer to our questions. How long have you been into photography?

Andreas: I’m into photography since the beginning of 2011. I’ve been interested in photography before but never really jumped in it until then. I did shoot with a small digital camera during vacations though, and I bought my first digital reflex camera, which was a NIKON D90.

iLHP: How old are you if I may ask and where do you live?

Andreas: I’m 50 years old and I live in Gelsenkirchen which is a town in the Ruhrarea in West-Germany. It’s quite a good and central location to reach a lot of places around which are interesting for me.

Gravity Defying Ballet Dancer and Photographer Mickael Jou

Levitation is an emerging field of photography as you all know. Different techniques can be used (here’s a tutorial of a multi-exposure levitation technique), but the grace and elegance shown by Mickael Jou is simply outstanding.

iLHP is very proud to say that this is the first detailed interview of this magnificent, poetic and graceful ballet dancer. He used to practice ballet and modern dance routines on the streets of Paris, where tourists would often photograph and film him. This gave him the idea of capturing portraits of himself and start a 365 day photo project showing his elegant, gravity-defying dance moves in spectacular snapshots.

“Whatever you’re doing, someone else probably already did it better than you. But that doesn’t mean that you cannot work to be better than them.”

Model Q&A with Lizzy S., a Designer and a Businesswomen

In an abandoned quarry thirty minutes south of Boston, I had the opportunity to talk and shoot with Lizzy S., a model, a designer, and a businesswomen. Within the buttoned up North East lives this free spirit originally from Oregon who just started her own brand called Nug Lyf (a play on Tupac’s “thug life”)

The shoot was in the Terry Style and if you notice in Part 3 of our “How to Shoot like Terry Richardson” series, she made a brief appearance in the middle of that article. Sadly, this was also my last shoot in Boston before I relocated to Los Angeles. But this particular location was so full of colorful graffiti and drawings, that it was a gem of a location to cap off my life on the East Coast. Rock climbers seemed to love this place too!
