Top 6 Best Wildlife Photography Locations Worldwide

Animals have always had a way of moving me one way or another from a very young age. My household growing up was never lacking a furry four-legged friend. I believe that many animals whether domesticated or living in the wild, are far more intelligent than many people give them credit for. However, the world seems to be changing and more and more people are adopting pets in need into their homes and spending time and donating money to animal awareness organizations. It is quite often I am scrolling through my social media feeds when a heartwarming story pops up regarding some animal that grabs my attention and pulls at my heart strings.

There are many places I have wanted to visit throughout the world to view these spectacular creatures since a young age. Now that I have a greater interest in photography, I really yearn to visit some if not all of the places on the list below.

Foodtography: Part One

If you were to type in #foodporn on Instagram 54,081,378 posts pop up.  People love taking pictures of their food to especially share on social media networks such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I am guilty of being one of these people. Many of the images we see posted on these networks are usually taken with a smartphone without much thought or planning. The foods we eat often at restaurants are presented in a creative and artistic manner that it can be difficult to resist capturing an image before it disappears into our stomaches.

I remember a few years back I was in McDonald’s on a roadtrip and the two unnamed people I was with ordered lunch. As they set it down on the table all the colors of the packaging and the food itself looked like an image I could not resist taking. I posted it on Facebook after and I swear to you I have never had so many likes on an image or comments in all my years using it. It goes to show that food images create a strong impact among viewers and invokes one’s senses. Continue reading Foodtography: Part One

The World’s Top 10 Sunsets

I have seen some spectacular sunsets around the world but there are still many places that I would love to travel to and capture with my lens. It is always exciting going to a new place and seeing new things for the first time. I love how each place has a uniqueness to it even if it is within the same country. Last summer I was out shooting a great deal in Toronto and every night the sky would paint a new picture for me to capture through my lens. The cityscape always had a different backdrop. Shooting at sunset into nightfall is one of my favorite times to start snapping.

Here are some of the places I hope to visit one day and have the pleasure of witnessing the sunset with my very own eyes:

10) Kenya

Since I was wee I remember always having a fascination about visiting Africa and going on a safari. I am a huge animal lover and would love to be able to experience the sight of such spectacular animals in their natural habitat. Elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras and tigers are some of the most magnificent animals on the planet. It would be a dream come true to one day have the opportunity to capture both the animals and the sunsetting at the same time.

A Look Inside Paparazzi Photography

Paparazzi [noun] – a freelance photographer, especially one who takes candid pictures of celebrities for publication

We have all seen the cover of tabloid magazines plastered with famous celebrity faces on every newsstand.  Especially here in North America it is difficult to escape it when you are going about your daily chores waiting in line to check out at the local grocery store or drugstore.

I don’t think anyone would disagree that paparazzi photographers are the most hated among other photographers. On average, the paparazzi photogs that do this on a full-time basis make anywhere from $80,000 – $250,000. The really great stalkers, I mean veteran paparazzi photogs make on average $250,000 – $300,000 apparently. I guess the one’s that make the higher incomes can justify their behavior by the amount of money they receive in return for their actions.

I Want to be a Part of It: New York City

Once upon a time a girl from Toronto had big dreams of moving to New York City. She had hopes of attending FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology) about 17 years ago. She submitted her portfolio to the Fashion Design program and found a roommate to share an apartment with in Soho. She found out less than a month before her move that FIT misplaced all her original work. Her portfolio was misplaced and she wouldn’t be able to attend that semester. That girl’s heart and dreams were suddenly crushed. That girl was me.
