My Introduction (Christian M.) – Photographing the Macro World

Eclosion of Life: it’s a 2mm wide wild flower shot: 16mm (24mm FF equivalent), f/4.5, 1/80 sec, 100 ISO

Hi everyone,

First of all, I want to thank Edward T. for giving me the opportunity to collaborate with him on this website and share with you all my experience of photography.

Morning dew: 16mm(24mm FF equivalent) f/4.5, 1/60 sec, 250 ISO
Droplets Spree: 16mm(24mm FF equivalent) f/4.5, 1/60 sec, 250 ISO

So Hi, I’m Chris M. and I live in the Paris area. That being said, it is not relevant information as my photography style is about macro photography, natural landscapes and silhouetted subjects.

Sparkling Strawberry: 38mm, f/7.1, 1/40 sec, 100 ISO

So no pictures from Paris. Other editors will be more capable than me to do that. I try to make my photographs look as artistic as I can. My goal is not to embrace the naturalistic side of photography.

Discovering its Intimacy: 39mm, f/5.6, 1/60 sec, 500 ISO

You will see throughout my future posts that I’m very passionate about it. I’m the kind of guy who can talk about photography for hours. All in all, even if I set my photography style quite quickly I pretty much like all types of photography, as long as it displays a meaningful sense of art “inside”.

Conquest: 16mm, f/22, 1/250 sec, 100 ISO

But let’s take a look at my background to understand why I’m here now. My dad, who is not a photographer, had his own way to take excellent pictures with a very good sense of perspectives (must have been from the fact he’s an engineer). He had a “scientific” approach of it. That’s how I had my first experience in photography, by looking and learning from him.

Romantic Dawn: 50mm, f/7.1, 1/640 sec, 100 ISO

I’ve always appreciated Art-design and have always been fascinated by high quality images. By the way, I think we can (almost) find beauty and/or a sense of design in everything. That’s what photography is for. To reveal in each landscape, city, portrait or macro-photography something extraordinary to look at using every single tool a photographer can have and give his own interpretation, vision and atmosphere thanks to the lights and perspectives. That’s what this site is about, that’s the philosophy I would like to pass on. I’d like to share with you what I see through my lenses.

Delicacy: 50mm, f/5.6, 1/80, 100 ISO

As a matter of fact, I embraced photography since a year now and got my first real camera a few months ago.

Path: 16mm, f/22, 1/100 sec, 100 ISO

As I said earlier, most of my photographs are about macros and landscapes. Indeed, it is for now, but as everything else, this is something that evolves with time, with experience and new techniques. You will soon be able to see further on that I have a lot of photography projects to come that I will share with you. I will try to explain the process, why I did it, how I did it and of course share with you the best tips and tricks.

Shopping Spree: 16mm, f/11, 1/60 sec, 250 ISO

As we’re used to say in France «Une image vaut mieux qu’un long discours”. I’m not going to talk much about myself, I prefer to let you appreciate my work and if you have anything to suggest, feel free to leave a comment.

Dad & Son: 16mm, f/3.5, 1/80 sec, 100 ISO

Hope you’ll like my pictures and the topics I will share.
